20-Jan-2011 - Corporate Badminton League Fixture 2
Opposition this time was a team named Atlas-A. They were a formidable team but not that great when it came to technique and confidence. It was a 6-0 whitewash which really explains the way games went.
Scores: 21-7 / 21-8 / 21-6 / 21-12 / 21-14 / 21-9
27-Jan-2011 - Corporate Badminton League Fixture 3
Atlas-B were the targets this week and we were all guns-going for yet another kill, and indeed it was another sweep. We were getting better at the art of white-wash.

This was the week to establish A-Team was much stronger than B-Team. It was the Oracle B-Team(who call themselves Horror Baddy) that were facing the mighty racquets of A-Team players. There wasn't any mercy and we went for the kill. Yet another whitewash of 6-0.
Scores: 21-12 / 21-11 / 21-7 / 21-12 / 21-11 / 21-5
17-Feb-2011 - Corporate Badminton League Fixture 6
It was time to face off BG-B (team 2 from BG-Group) with 2 of their key players available for a face-off with unbeatable us(A-Team). It started off well with game 1, however they came back strong by winning game 2 and 5. At the end we had to settle down for a 4-2 win instead of another white-wash. The unbeatable were eventually tamed and the white-wash run was cut-short in week 6.

03-Mar-2011 - Corporate Badminton League Fixture 7
Horror Baddy (Oracle B-Team) got the chance to equal scores this week with us. They sort of came closer in one of the games which I played and we were trailing 9-16 at one point. However, we pinched the game away and what followed with the rest of the games was like history-repeated-itself. It was a white-wash from the A(ce) team.
Scores: 21-15 / 21-16 / 21-9 / 21-9 / 21-15 / 21-13
10-Mar-2011 - Corporate Badminton League Fixture 8
We faced Atlas-A in the last of three matches for the season. The game I played was over in under 5 minutes with a score of 21-5 and left the opposition frustrated to the floor. However on the other side, the second pair were in tatters losing the game 17-21. Now that we were all warmed up, rest of the games were a sweep and we finished 5-1 still looking good to be crowned the champions with just 2 more games left in the league.
Scores: 17-21 / 21-5 / 21-12 / 21-9 / 21-21 / 21-16
2 more weeks to go....
Local Leisure Center in Woodley came up with the plan of starting a Corporate Badminton Tournament in 2011. I guess they had regular court bookings from locally based companies. It certainly is the nearest one for Thames Valley Park. All the paper work done, the games were to start Jan, 2011. The fixtures came out late December and we knew the dates.
Format
2 pairs from each side would be labelled A to D. Then alternate similar labelled players with the opposition and play a single game to 21. Likewise we get to play 3 matches in total.
13-Jan-2011 - Corporate Badminton League Fixture 1
We faced good opposition in the name of BG-Group, who are located in the same IT park as us. It was a nice start with a win (21-13). Opposition came closer in the second game, however we managed to scrape through to win. (21-16). Third one was the challenging as their best pair came together. However some unforced mistakes from us, let us down 16-21. I seriously thought we could have won the game but that is the way it is. All in all we drew 3-3.
Scores: 21-14 / 16-21 / 10-21 / 21-16 / 21-13 / 13-21

Opposition were the team 2 from BG-Group. They were missing key players in the team and that showed by their performance. Again, the scores tell the dominance of the A-Team
